Prepare the skin

Do a deep scrub at least 24/48 hours before exposing yourself to the sun, in order to eliminate dead cells and let the skin breathe. A scrub should be done at least once a month. Try to use natural products (just honey and brown sugar to create a fantastic homemade scrub) and don't forget to moisturize the skin after the treatment.

Avoid exposing yourself during the hottest hours

It is always better to avoid getting in the sun between 12 and 16, especially if you are not used to being exposed to the sun's rays. In fact, during these hours the sun's rays are more intense and harmful.

Use adequate sunscreen

If it is true that it is important to choose sunscreen based on your phototype, it is equally true that to really protect the skin it would be advisable to always use a sunscreen with a protective factor of 50. The skin coloring process will be slower but definitely more healthy and lasting. Alternatively, always prefer creams with a sunscreen of at least 20.

Eat foods rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A

Thanks to nutrition it is possible to prevent (and sometimes cure) many diseases. One method to ensure a beautiful tan (especially lasting) is to consume foods rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A, which alone can stimulate the production of melanin, giving the skin a more amber color. Go ahead then for apricots, carrots, peaches, tomatoes, almonds and hazelnuts!

Don't overdo it

When you are on vacation you tend to want to tan immediately, in the fastest way, be careful not to fall into the temptation of the tanning lamp or the wild exposure to the sun: the skin must gradually get used to the sun's rays and it is essential to expose yourself gradually. Increase the hours of exposure day by day (without forgetting sunscreen). Your skin will be grateful to you and so will you in a few years… when you see that your skin is aging well!

Drink a lot

In the summer it is very important to drink a lot of water but when you are exposed to the sun hydration is even more important! In fact, in the sun the body tends to become very dehydrated due to the heat and the skin is the first to suffer the consequences. Drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day and remember that when you feel thirsty, your body is already in a state of advanced dehydration!

Avoid heavy foods and alcohol

Alcohol causes dehydration. During the hours of exposure to the sun, the body already loses fluids through sweating, alcohol intensifies this process, so it would be better to avoid the classic beer by the sea or choose a non-alcoholic drink. Dehydration should not be taken lightly, in addition to muscle cramps it can cause a feeling of extreme tiredness, disorientation or even real collapses.
