This happens because the active ingredients contained in the fruits contrast with the vitamin K which is useful in the blood clotting process.


Patients with diabetes almost always have drug therapies aimed at controlling the level of blood sugar. Goji berries have the extraordinary ability to lower the sugar level in the body; precisely for this reason, the concomitant consumption of berries and anti-diabetes drugs can generate an imbalance due to the sudden excessive drop in blood sugar (dizziness, fainting, motor difficulties etc.). Also in this case, it would be better to avoid using goji berries to avoid nasty surprises.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

At least to date, there are no scientific studies that indicate contraindications in the use of goji berries for women during pregnancy or breastfeeding. According to scientific research carried out in Spain, goji berries have an allergenic frequency of 10% (a relatively low percentage). However, it is good to remember that the plant that produces goji berries is part of the nightshade family, (the same which includes vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, peppers), for this reason those allergic to these foods are also potentially allergic to goji berries and therefore should avoid its consumption.
